Kochi Metro Rail

A meeting will be convened in Delhi to discuss various matters related to metro rail to make it a reality. Central Planning Commission with the State Government convenes the meeting. M. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development; P.J. Thomas, Chief Secretary to the State Government; K. R. Jyothilal, State Transport Secretary and District Collector Dr. M. Beena are among those who will attend today’s meeting.
The meeting has given rise to fresh hopes about the project that had been facing difficulties due to the protest of traders against the alignment of the metro rail within the city.
The rail that is being looked upon as a solution to the transportation and traffic woes of the city, is of 25.5 km length will connect Aluva with Petta, near Thripunithura.
The meeting, it is believed, would result in an in-principal approval for the project, which had been before the Planning commission for sometime now. This would serve as an incentive to the State to go ahead with the metro rail project.
The approval of Planning Commission is required to get sanction for the project from the Union Cabinet. Then, the State government and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the implementing agency for the project, can jointly form the Kochi Metro Rail Corporation and go ahead with the work.

Olympics | Chinese gymnasts might be too young

BEIJING — Two female Chinese gymnasts, including a gold-medal favorite, might be too young to participate in the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

Several online records and reports show He Kexin, the host nation's top competitor on uneven bars, and Jiang Yuyuan might not yet be 16, the minimum age for Olympic eligibility. Both were chosen for China's team last week.

On the Web site of the Chengdu Sports Bureau — Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province in southwest China — a file dated January 2006 shows He Kexin as being born Jan. 1, 1994.

Most recently, a May 23 story in the China Daily newspaper, the official English-language paper of the Chinese government, had He's age as 14.

The newspaper story begins: "The 14-year old newcomer to the national team, who was recruited last year, has raised a lot of eyebrows recently after she broke two world records on the uneven bars in as many months."

The New York Times raised questions about the athletes' ages in a story Saturday. And Chinese officials provided the newspaper with copies of passports indicating both gymnasts are 16.

But in a speech on Nov. 3, 2007, in the central city of Wuhan, Liu Peng, director of general administration of sport for China, said: "The 13-year-old uneven-bar gymnast He Kexin, who defeated national team athlete Yang Yilin — she just won the bronze medal in the world championships — has demonstrated her ability."

To be eligible for the Cities Games where Liu made his remarks, Chinese documents show athletes must be over 13, but under 15.

IT intake comes down

the slow down by cutting their intake. The major companies such as Satyam and Infosys had clearly shown a

reduction in hiring.

As per reports Infosys is planning to hire 25,000 people in the financial year 2008-09 compared to the 35,000 in

the financial year 2007-08. There is a change in 29%.
Similarly Satyam is hiring 12,000 new employees in this financial year whereas they hired around 16,600

employees in the previous financial year. They stated that this year they will be hiring 40-45% of people through

campus recruitments.

Both the company officials stated that they will be hiring more employees if the present economic slow down is

over or their business wants so.

Indian Urban Relationship - New Trend

As time changes humans have to change and this change is actually changing the culture. Here is a brief report of change in trend of Indian Urban family lifes. The major thing is that its changing to a different culture in such a pace that it will override the western culture very soon (both in good and BAD ways).

A survey conducted by CNN-IBN reveals the following things in the urban family life moreover urban concept over marriage. The survey shows that 10% of Indian urbans want to have the marriage of girls before the age of 18. While 80% wants it to be after 18. There is a minority of 1% people who wants the marriage of girls only after the age of 30. Any way it shows a good sign compared to 30 years ago. Still the feeling of ' a girl cannot be married after she is 30' or ' there is a problem with a single woman after the age of 30' seems to be predominating.

Coming to boys the survey shows that 10% of urbans think that a man should marry only after the age of 30. While the majority or 78% people thinks that the marriage of man should happen before the age of 30. Interestingly 3% of urban boys wants their marriage before the age of 18.

Coming to live-in relations, 22% of young metro men agree that there is no problem with live-in relations. 10% of the Urbans also think in the same way.28% of women also back them with similar views.

69% of the Urban Indians feel that marital infidelity is not the end of marriage. 63% of non-illeterates support the same feeling while 79% of them are graduates.

Divorce : 48% of the urban indians support divorce if the couple is found to be incompatible. Another interesting thing to note is that when asked seperately 13% of the married persons would like to remarry if they are given a chance to do so. These reports show the weakening relationship in our urban society.

79% of the single men would like to have their own children while 84% of single women wishes the same. Another fact found out is that 28% boys think that there is no problem with sex before marriage and 36% girls support them with same views. Some expressed the feeling that "Marriage is just an indian certificate for a girl and boy to sleep together".

Changes are always good and they are necessary for the survival. But one thing that we have to take care is donot induce change just for the sake of a change.

Its a 40 minute ride for sight seeing and all the anouncements will be made in hindi. Currently they have German, English , French, Italian, Spanish , Russian, Chineese and Japaneese. Reports says that this change is due to the increasing vistors from India. Currently 20% of the visitors are to Lusen and Swisterland are from India. Indian toursists to Swizz are increasing at rate of 15% per year.

Any way , its proud to hear our National language in such a beautiful place which is so far from our home.

India grabs the first GOLD

It is now a very prestegious moment now,,, a reason to celebrate,,, India had grabbed the first gold in Beiging Olympics!!!!
Every one is at joy. They say that the India is now at its top.
As an inzider , i look from a different angle. Do you think that this is a big thing? (or really big thing?) . From a country which has the one fifth of the world population , are you proud to say that you got one GOLD (or just one gold).
We have a potential population which can bagg at least 30 golds (don't say ahhh!!!) and we are happy with just one. Don't say that you are optimistic. This is the other side , the one who have capabilities are being kept apart as they don't have necessary hold (or politic support). When will you all react to this????

Any way congrats Mr. Abhinav Bindra !!!! At least you did it. Hats off man.

Sports minister wants 2 see Olympics

It is interesting to see in news channels that one of the state sports minister , crying like a child only because he wants to go to China. It is more interesting to note that he wants to see Olympics - from a country where even the talented sports persons were not allowed to see the great walls.
The talented persons were asked to take their own risk and money if they want to go to olympics after completing so many tests (hurdles). This is the case of a sportsman.
Looking from this scenario the minister wants to go China (possibly what he says is thats a study tour and wants to improve the states sports awareness). What an irony! the one who cannot send the talented ones are again keen in studying about improvements.
A study without implementation!!
He is still accusing the central ministers that he had got only the permission and not money , to see olympics.
What a Politics... rather Politrix...
